This week marks the end of district level competition. Congratulations to the Mercy Equestrian Team! The girls competed in the toughest division in MIHA. District 1 A team winners are often the state champions and a very tough group to compete against. The team should be proud of their performance, teamwork and spirit.
This week point earners were Lauren Abrahamson, Brittany Cameron, Stephanie Luther, Nicole Ratcliffe and Abby Smith. Stephanie and Abby tied as week 3 high point earners.
Congratulations, Mercy Equestrian! The 2011 second district meet saw several new riders on the point list. Earning points for the team this week included Abbie Bowen, Brittany Cameron, Alexandra Mattingly, Nicole Ratcliffe, Julia Rettig, Lisa Riley and Abby Smith. Special congratulations to Nicole Ratcliffe - this week's high point rider.
Our last meet will be held Saturday, September 24th at the Huron Valley Equestrian Fields in Milford. Let's pray for and injury and rain free 2011 send off.
The rain came down steadily for the first three hours on Saturday making the first event set up even more difficult than usual. When the rain stopped, the arenas were filled with large puddles that did not recede all day. Several of the Mercy horses were not fans of the standing water but in spite of this obstacle, the girls and horses all performed well. Saturday, September 10, 2011 is the first equestrian meet for the 2011 season. This year marks the first time that the Mercy High School equestrian team has been large enough to make a division A team with 11 riders. An impressive size for such a young team.
